The Best Cannabis Infused Lasagna Recipe

This Italian dish is traditionally layered with a meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella cheese, vegetables and flavored with onions, garlic, and oregano. I have turned this recipe into a cannabis infused lasagna as I do with many recipes when cooking for my circle of friends who consume cannabis frequently.
When you think of lasagna, you visualize too much work, however, I made this as easy as possible using fresh noodles. You can find them in the refrigerator section of your local supermarket or grocery store. If you can’t find the fresh kind, you can use the “Express” dried noodles.
The best lasagna starts with the best Bolognese sauce. This recipe uses sweet Italian sausage and lean ground beef. I always use lean beef so the lasagna will not turn out too greasy. The combination of sausage and beef with the addition of chicken broth gives more flavor and depth, enhanced by onions, garlic, basil, oregano, and black pepper. I used crushed tomato to add more texture, tomato paste to thicken the sauce and to make the tomato flavor more pronounced. The sourness is balanced by the addition of brown sugar. Simmering the meat sauce for at least 1 hour over low heat brings out more of its flavor. You can see the oily formation on the top and side of the sauce, the umami taste is amazing!
For the herbs, I used a combination of parsley, basil, and oregano, perfect to make this dish more irresistible while the fennel seeds provide an authentic flavor. The cheese mixture is three kinds of cheese, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan. I recommend grating the cheese from a block for best results. The addition of egg binds them together. The final dish is so creamy and filling. I’ve added the canna-olive oil in the meat sauce and cheese mixture so it really absorbed into the dish. If you’re using the extra virgin olive oil, make sure it is of high quality with a high smoking point.
I specifically created this cannabis infused lasagna for those who enjoy eating pasta as their comfort food. It’s a large casserole so you can serve this during a get together with your friends. For less hassle, you can prepare the sauce ahead of time, cool it first then refrigerate or freeze. Have fun!
The Best Cannabis Infused Lasagna
Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C.
Place canna-olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic & onions, cook for 1 minute or until translucent.
Add the ground beef & sausage, break into small pieces, stirring constantly until well browned. Stir in brown sugar, fennel seeds, basil, oregano, black pepper, & salt.
Pour in the tomatoes & chicken broth, stir well to combine & bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low & simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, egg, canna-olive oil, parsley, basil, oregano, salt, & pepper.
Grease the bottom of a deep baking dish/casserole dish with regular olive oil. Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of the pan. Layer with 4 lasagna sheets.
Spread ⅓ of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Spread ¼ of the meat sauce over the cheese mixture.
Repeat the process twice using only 3 lasagna sheets in the middle layers.
Top with 4 lasagna sheets, the remaining ¼ meat sauce & 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Cover loosely with aluminum foil, make sure it doesn’t touch the lasagna.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil & bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving.
